This is a wonderful example of breast implants placed for a very petite 105 pound lady who was looking to have proportional, full breasts that fit her body. It was difficult to find clothes and bathing suits that fit due to how petite she is and she decided to proceed with breast implants. She is shown only 5 weeks out from breast augmentation via inframammary fold (crease) incisions. The implants have begun to settle into place and look great but from the side view are still a bit high. With implants under the muscle the muscles need to stretch to allow the implants to drop into place and this takes about 12 weeks to occur. I placed 295cc Allergan SoftTouch smooth round silicone gummy bear implants. All patients receiving silicone implants are instructed that they will need to do MRI or ultrasound testing starting at 5 years and then every 2 to 3 years after this in order to monitor the implants for leaks over time. Breast implants do not last forever and with silicone breast implants ruptures can be silent and difficult to notice and thus ultrasound or MRI is recommended every 2-3 years.
