Breast Augmentation: Patient 189

Breast Augmentation: Patient 189

This young lady came to me for breast augmentation desiring the saline Ideal Implant.  The Ideal Implant is a variation of saline breast implants that is intended by design to feel more natural than regular saline implants.  It has multiple chambers to hold the saline and baffles in the internal lumens to keep the saline from moving around.  The goal is to feel more natural and have less rippling without the downside of silicone.  The major downside of silicone is monitoring of the implant for leaks over time as many ruptures can be "silent ruptures."  In other words since silicone is a gel that does not get absorbed it is hard to tell when silicone leaks which is why MRI is recommended 3 years after augmentation and then every 2 years.
